Mary Elizabeth Deeters of Williamsburg RD 2, died at 7:55 a.m. today in her home. Mrs Deeters was born at Curryville, Pa March 14, 1889, a daughter of Felix and Annie (Frederick ) Showalter. She was married to Perry Deeters Dec 25, 1907 at Oreminea by the Rev John H. Brumbaugh, Mrs Deeters was a member of the church of God of Williamsburg. Surviving are her husband, six children , Mrs Phyllis L. Hatch, Mrs Hazel T. Sayers and Edgar E. of Williamsburg RD2; Mrs Mabel E. Patterson and Clarence W. of Ganister and Gerald E at home; two sisters, Mrs Clara Haney and Mrs Nannie Hoover of Williamsburg; one brother William A Showalter of Williamsburg ; 15 grandchildren and 13 Great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the home after 1 pm Sunday

Josephine M. (Gutshall) Patterson, 81, Hastings, formerly of Altoona, died Saturday at Golden LivingCenter-HAIDA Manor, Hastings. Before her brief stay at Golden LivingCenter-HAIDA Manor, Josephine resided with her granddaughter, Josephine Ruckinger and her husband, Jeff, of Blandburg, where the three of them looked forward to the yearly vacations that they took together.
She was born in Mount Union, the only child of the late John R. and Beulah J. (Hamman) Gutshall. She married Robert F. Patterson Nov. 17, 1945, at Fifteenth Street Methodist Church. He died Dec. 13, 1999.
Surviving are children: Carol Skinner, Susan Showalter and Virginia Cruse, all of Altoona, Roberta Frew of Ashville, Jocie Williams of Blandburg and John Patterson of Mapleton Depot; numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a very close cousin, Virginia Kough. She also is survived by special caregivers: Judy Harris, Anna Mae Michaels and Sandy Schirf, who provided loving care.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 13, 2009, at Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home and noon to the 1 p.m. time of funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Axe & Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona, with Pastor Bernard Bookhammer officiating. Interment at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
In memory of Josephine, contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society."
